CT DMV Can Kiss My Squamba

CT DMV Can Kiss My Squamba
An hour and 20 minutes. That's how long it took me to drive to work today. I only live 15 minutes away!!! Why did it take so long? Well, as if I-95 isn't a horrifying nightmare to begin with, the geniuses at DMV and Emissions sent a letter out a week ago to everyone whose emissions would expire on June 28 stating that if they did not have their cars tested by today, their registraion would be cancelled. So... this morning, the line to get into emissions in Darien, CT -- which is located in a rest area on I-95 -- caused a traffic back up from Darien to Bridgeport -- about 20 miles. On a Friday morning. I can't even begin to fathom the depth of ineptitude that permeates that agency. Are they that hard up for money? Why weren't the letters sent out a month ago? Why, all of a sudden, does it mean automatic registraion cancellation instead of the hefty $30 fine they love to impose? Why? Because they are complete jackasses. Yeah, everyone waits until the last minute... but they are cramming a month's worth of emissions into a week. Really smart. Good thinking. Stellar work, guys. Just stellar. What will you do for your next trick? Pull your heads out of your asses? That might be a toughy!! But I say "Go for it!"
Assholes.
I'm leaving work early today so I don't get screwed yet again.

hello
my comment is why do they inspect cars just because they are changing owners?? they must need the money!!! I got pulled over the other day cause in broad daylight a CROMWELL cop said he couldnt see my license plate cause of a CLEAR cover I had over it and he made me go to get the whole car inspected. WHY, WHY??? If you ask me this whole state is a joke...(cops & dmv)

ok, my problem is partly my fault, but what the hell!
i'm now driving around (carefully, hesitantly) with an expired registration sticker on my license plate. oh, i've paid the renewal - I sent them $80 ten days after the registration expired (yeah, 10 days. so sue me. both my husband and i got laid off, and i am now underemployed as minimum-wage seasonal help at the mall, and i had to renew my driver's license at the same time - and what's up with that?? can't this be scheduled at different times of year, or better yet, different years? $54 for the license, and $80 for the registration, in one month!! but that's another rant.)....so I send the $80, late, and they send me a letter back saying i have to send another $10 because I'm late. So, I send it, gritting my teeth. I don't think that was noted on the form that I sent originally. And why the hell can't we just bring the paperwork and the money to a DMV office?? It plainly states that you cannot renew in person, it has to be by mail!
...So i mailed it on 11/18, and here it is, 12/4, and i still don't have the sticker!! I've tried calling the DMV office, but the phone number just brings you into a series of "press 1 for ..."...

OK, thanks. i feel better now.

CT DMV is the worst! I was pulled over in NYC for taking a right on red. I paid my ticket in NY. Since CT and NY DMV's do not talk to one another, my license was suspended, even though I paid my ticket, ON TIME!
It has taken over two months to restore my license. Why? Well, in this day in age where everything is computerized, I have to use the US Postal Service! I can't even go to the DMV in person. Two months! Two months without a car! I can download hours of porn and the police have computers in there cars, but the DMV's are not connected in any way! Mail? Mail? No Fax, No national commputer system, just mail. I can't even go to the DMV. Mail. When was the last time YOU sent a letter? Mine was to the DMV!

The stupid fuckers at DMV are all totally full of shit. They steal our money, waste our time, and get paid to jerk off from 9 to 5 without ever answering the phone. What a waste of humanity. What a joke.

Okay, CT DMV sucks - for that matter the whole fucking state sucks, but I did find out that if your registration is ALREADY EXPIRED you CAN register in person - but God forbid they tell you that on the form they send out OR that there's a $10 late fee - thanks "momula" for that info - they're SUCH ASSHOLES - now try finding a DMV office that's still open - figure out what the fuck is going on with the God damned emmissions and then sit and wait for 3 fucking hours - I hate this state - and yes, I'm moving as soon as possible - I'm tired of being taxed to death and yet having to pay more for everything every year and all this while living in one of the wealthiest states in the country - take a look at our SHITTY roads and you'd never know that - they ought to just GIVE UP and SHUT DOWN the whole damn state!

OK, what exactly is the origin of squamba? It's just such a silly, funny word! My co-worker and I were looking for the DMV website when we stumbled upon this page. We laughed so hard I cried. We're thinking of starting a squamba award program at the office.

I own a FORD WINDSTAR which I have had 3 years, paid 19,0000 for at MILLER FORD and only pur 40,000 miles on. THE ENGINE IS DEAD! I maintained this vehicle beautifully. I own 2 and a half years of payments on it, yet it does not run. I have to INSURE IT and REGISTER it and PAY TAXES on it here in lovely CT. I cannot afford 5 ,000 for a new engine so I have NO CAR. We are a family of five and today I get to go to DMV to register my mothers car in my name so I have something to drive. Wish me luck and dont EVER buy a FORD.

Don't get me started! lol. I share many views with some of the above, but I must focus on one CT point. What's up with Property tax on an automobile?! Stupid if you ask me. It's not stationary. The rumor for an out-of-stater is that it was to be a temporary fix for a financial problem. Well, most other fixes, it's stayed on the books. I'm a NY (upstate) native and can share some questionable charges, BUT property tax on my car?! Desparate Desparate Desparate is the state of CT.

Posted by: Tom on June 1, 2003 08:21 PM

actually property tax on a car makes perfect sense because its a progressive tax. usually the wealthier the individual, the more cars and the more expensive cars he or she owns and therefore they foot more of our collective tax bill. meanwhile people of lesser means obviously pay less with this tax.

all that said, ct dmv sucks.

Posted by: billybob on June 6, 2003 12:10 AM

While you're talking about property tax, has anyone ever noticed how they automatically charge you property tax when you register your car, but long after you've sold your car, the property tax bills keep on coming! To stop them YOU have to show proof of the sale to the town! It's an automatic racket!

And the folks planning and working on I-95 seem no smarter than the DMV idiots! We'll all sit in two years of traffic near exit 14 in Norwalk so we can enjoy the new improved highway with....... the same number of lanes! All those wasted manhours in traffic....for, yet again, nothing!

I filed a complaint with the DMV (dealers and repairers division) against Advanced Autobody in East Granby CT and Frank Grillo late July 2002. My claim contained documentation of the demand letter I sent to Advanced Autobody and three postwork inspections by Balise Curry and my Insurance co. The postwork inspections verfied that Mr Grillo of Advanced Autobody in East Granby CT susbstituted used parts, did not replace, rather re-bent damaged structural mambers under my car back into place and charged me for new parts. Furthermore, after sveral attempts I could not get him to fix the severe vibration my car exhibits while driving over 60mph. To make matters worse 3 weeks after I got the car back from Frank Grillo of Advanced Autobody in East Granby CT the paint he applied started peeling. These claims are verified and documented and to date the DMV has done nothing!!! I call Inspector Russo of the weathersfield office every 3 weeks for the last year!! And I have gotten nowhere...they never answer the phone. Whe nI do talk to him he can;t tell me when any action against Grillo will occur. One Fucking autobody told me my car was unsafe and is not tracking properly because its not 4 wheel aligned due to damaged structure. The brake line was improperly repaired and All I get for answers from the DMV is well its going to be awhile. What does one have to do to get Justice... Frank Grillo is a thief and a liar and will put the safety of his customers in jeopardy to make a buck..Spread the word DON'T EVER USE ADVANCED AUTOBODY OF EAST GRANBY CT.

Yeah, DMV is f****d up. My wifes registration was about to run out, the state NEVER sending her a renewal notice, so on my day off I went to renew it. After 2 hours at the DMV, I get close enough to the counter to see the sign that says renewals won't be processed in person. Not about to leave without a fight, I went up when it was my turn, and to my surprise, they renewed the registration, WITH NO PROBLEMS! Hallelujah! Well, I decided to do mine the next week. I was in the same boat as my wife. The same location, the same guy who processed me just one week ago, tells me I can't renew in person, I need to mail it to a PO box in Bridgeport. THats the government for ya!

My grandfather used to say that all state employees who were being punished got sentenced to tenures at the DMV. Bunch of fucking clowns. They tell you one thing then do another. Had to wait in some stupid fucking impatient line for an hour, only to have some crotchety old fuck look at me and tell me "this has to be notarized". Hey, heres a crazy idea- tell me before I wait in line you asshole.

Um, yea, not a big fan of CT DMV here.

oh hell no! listen to this one. I get a letter in the mail, from these pricks, telling me that I am now in violation of the law and to mail my $100.00 dollars in to disolve my case. Because on 4/21/03 my insurance was cancelled on my car. I didn't walk into the insurance building to get my insurance until 4/25/03.So according to the rocket scientists at the mvd I cancelled my insurance four days before i even went to get the insurance! By the way, the form they send you now, gives you no option to go to any court to dispute their alligations, just a way to resolve your case ( yeah you now have a case) by sending them MONEY. While we're not looking they are breeding these people out in a corn field in Nebraska somewhere. So that when one of them dies another incompitant can take their place!
