Life Is A Theater

I recently had to let someone go, someone who at one time was very dear to me. And while it was not an easy thing to do, not by any stretch of the imagination, I had to do what was best for me.

Of course, when forced to make that kind of decision, I waffle, hem and haw, cry, complain, and then finally just get it over with. And then days go by and I wonder if I made the right decision... So it was bittersweet that I got this email (below) from my dear friend Miki -- who I must say will probably never be on the receiving end of the scenario I mentioned above because she is one of the few people I know who miraculously never has drama. :) I love ya, Mik!

Life is a theatre. Invite your audience carefully.

Not everyone is healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize, your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not going anywhere relationships/friendships.

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention. Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill?

When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama, or don't really understand, know or appreciate you?

The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.

You cannot change the people around you. But you can change the people you are around.

I came over here hoping for a little levity and a good chuckle and what do I find? I find myself looking into a mirror. I am facing a hauntingly similar and painful decision right now. Miki, your letter just gave me the confirmation and courage I needed to take what is a terrifying yet vital step in my life. Thank you. And thanks LA for posting it.

Glad it was helpful, in some way. Good luck with your decision ... I'm sure you'll make the right one.

Looks like Miki has a future in writing manifestos herself.

No I did not write it, but I was lucky enough to receive it, and pass it along to my friends, because that's what friends do for friends. Enuff said.

I sent this along to a friend in the hopes that it will encourage her to make the right decision for herself, thanks!
