Toy Fetish

My toy fetish is getting out of hand.

No not that kind of fetish. I’m referring to toys for adults, as in gadgets, motor vehicles, recreational vehicles … you know.

The past year I’ve been trying to curb the spending since I am trying to save money for school. I’d prefer to only have to take out a loan for $100,000 and not $150,000. But there were certain things I just had to have, and so last week I went on a little e-commerce spending spree.

Consequently, this past weekend was like Christmas all over again. A box of new books and CDs arrived from Amazon on Saturday afternoon, the tripod I bought on eBay arrived yesterday, and I made a big spontaneous purchase on Saturday -- a new motorcycle helmet. A $360 helmet isn’t that big of a deal … considering that I was oh-so-close to buying a new motorcycle for the wife. But she also wants me to save my money, and talked me out of it.

Temporarily.

I’m still thinking about it … Nevertheless, I should probably avoid motorcycle shops for the next few weeks until this urge passes. See, I just can’t get this little voice out of my head that’s whispering “Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a brand new motorcycle on Valetine’s Day.” Right honey! We can even add on a tiny sidecar so you can drive that bald cat of yours around town! (and blow the remaining 9 hairs on his body right off!)
