I feel like George Castanza. Every time I take baby steps to be one ounce "cooler" and less of a geek, I invariably take a huge leap backwards into geekdom immediatley following any effort.
For example, I accompanied a friend of mine to get a new tattoo earlier today. While I was looking around the joint, trying to get some ideas and inspiration for my next inking, I realized I was in this very cool place, talking to a very cool guy about drawing and art ... and I'm standing there wearing my f*cking Mensa t-shirt. Like a tool.
Then, as I returned home, I was filled with joy to see my latest Amazon.com purchase had arrived. I got so excited to read it, I tore open the package and ran out on to the deck to dive in and begin reading. Of course, my joy was immediatley abated by my remembering that I had applications to med schools to fill out and mail off by tomorrow.
Worse - the book I am so titillated about: Human Embryonic Stem Cells.
I think I am a lost cause.
At least you didn't pick out a dream catcher with a dolphin in the middle of it. Or some kind of punctuation for a tattoo. So gay!
