OK, I've been tageed by MJ. So, here goes!

1. When did you start blogging and why?
March 2002. Why? Hmm. Initially it was because I needed an outlet to vent, bitch and moan, and play with my writing styles since my job at the time was tediously boring and not the least bit creatively challenging. I also wanted to document my med school application process. Now I use it as a med school journal and to let family and friends know what's happening in my life since I moved 3,000 miles west.

2. What don’t you write about? Anything considered a no-no in your book?
Sure - I never wrote about my dot-com job - not even when I quit because of the bullshit stifling atmosphere, the deceipt, and the politics. (I did love my last job, though, as a biotech writer. Refreshing to work for professionals.) I don't really write about my personal relationships anymore other than to mention goofy friends. No need to air dirty laundry all over the Internet. Besides, no one is interested in hearing about my enviable and robust sex life or all those weird latex and leather fetishes and other dark habits of mine. heh heh. ;)

3. Are you and your blogging persona the same person?
Sometimes. I am a hell of a lot funnier in real life - or so I like to think. :) I also think I can be a bit more serious and intense in real life, but I chalk that up to being focused and driven towards my goals. I can also be a lot more fun, especially the past few months. When you find true happiness, it affects your whole being. I am really, really happy now, and that may not be evident in many of my older posts. I have found a way to stay in the moment as much as possible by being grateful for the opportunity to follow my dreams, and that has helped me to do well in school. I've also made some amazing friends here, and you can't beat 333 days of sunshine a year! Sounds corny, but... I spent years miserable in a career I never wanted, so to finally get to medical school and start living the life I always wanted has had the most profound impact on me emotionally.

4. How do you use blogging to build friendships?
I don't use it so much to build friendships as much as to maintain some, although I met MJ, and that's been awesome. I link from my MySpace account to my blog so my classmates can find me. And that's been fun - we have a large, fun and pretty tight class.

5. How would you describe your writing style?
My blogging style is nothing remotely close to my professional writing style. And I never really edit myself here. (Hence the abundance of typos. I'm not a fucking grammar nazi.) Blogging is more like typing an email. Rants, raves, quick updates. I wouldn't call it a style per se. I used to think I would explore more creative writing here, but never really got motivated enough to do that.

So, I needd to tag someone, eh? Oh PERI!!! ERIC G.!!! Tag!

ew!

hey - I went Catalina w/ Beth yesterday - it was fucking great! Ran into a COMP grad who is doing an FP residency there. Sweeeeeeeet... perhaps we can rotate there, too.

We need to go back to parasail when you're back in town. We'll have to snag 2 parasail boats and drag race across the harbor.
